Welcome to The Travel Gear Junkie! My name is Rachael and I have a bit of a confession: I obsessed with all things travel related. Travel gear and travel gadgets (essential and non-essential) occupy my brain. So, I decided to dedicate this website to gadgets and gear essential to travel convenience, comfort, and fun!
I have spent 20 plus years engaged in all types of travel. I love visiting new and old places, seeing strange and familiar faces. I travel to near and far places to by planes, trains, and automobiles. I even found some new and interesting destinations by the sole use of my own two feet and a pack on my back. My journeys take me on short red-eye forays across the nation and back in a day and a half and longer excursions from 2 weeks to 4 months international stays.
Over the years, I have honed my travel style and packing systems to accommodate efficient carry-on only journeys and to an everything-but-the kitchen-sink festival car camp stays. I know how to travel on a budget and I know how to break a bank with finesse.
I learn a trick or two more about travel conveniences and solutions each time I walk out my front door for another adventure. I invite you to continue this journey with me.
SHARING IS CARING
From the mile high to the capital, from Shanghai to the Grand Canyon, from the left coast to the best coast, historical sites to modern cities, my journey has led me here to share my blunders and successes with everyday travel essentials and amenities. I want to share a few of my favorite things with you: stuff to leave home, stuff to keep in the case, and stuff to keep in your pocket. There are many lessons that I learned on the road and in the air and it is time for me to share those lessons with you so keep reading.
Here I share my stories with you about the gear and gadgets that I have found to be invaluable and those space fillers that ended up being useless. My trips to and fro fill my mind up with travel knowledge unique to the efficient traveler.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
This is a site dedicated to giving and sharing ideas about our travel companions – those items we hold near and dear. Travelers are like snowflakes. We will never happen upon duplicates because our preferences are as individual as we are, but we can share our experiences with each other and benefit from our travel comforts and travel idea mishaps. I aim to show you what I have found to be useful in my journeys, but I want to hear from you too! I am still learning how to best fill my pack for the road ahead.
If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.
All the best,
